i have not shared smiles in so long! (not sure what i'm talking about? this post, this post, or this post will inform you. also this one, this one, and this one, but i know that's asking a lot of you. soooo much clicking to do. so if you're only going to read one it might as well be this one... or this one is also good... but this one was my first one so you may want to check it out too!)

MOVING ON!

so, background story first:

last night i was trying to purchase the call by regina spektor on iTunes and, ugh, it wasn't working. the thing is, iTunes wanted me to purchase the whole album which i didn't want to do. i just wanted the one song. so i did what i usually do: vented on facebook. minutes later, i received an e-mail from a friend with the downloadable mp3 of the call. i was ecstatic. so, i downloaded it (for free) onto iTunes. (take THAT apple... or disney... or whoever made up that dumb rule of having to purchase the whole album!) lovely.

needless to say, she made me smile big time.

second smile is: its my sissykins 22nd birthday today.

aw. what a gem she is. :)

happy birthday sissykins. i miss you.

i've got a couple of {smiles} to share with ya'll

(i'm not southern. i don't know why i keep saying ya'll).

{smile} #1- i've had more and more girls tell me they like my style. - its always nice to hear your efforts are appreciated. i don't get dressed for anyone but me, but still, its nice to know i'm not crazy and that i actually do look cute!

{smile} #2 - the other day, little m (my 5 year old little brother for those of you who don't know who "little m" is), was going around the house singing "don't stop believing" by journey. as one of my favorite songs, that made me smile. plus his little 5 year old voice is so cute!

{smile} #3 - i have such great friends! one of my friends tweeted "@_sparrowchild_ (thats me) is the cheapest therapist. she's a great girl, and i can talk to her about anything without worrying about anything." i'm all about being there for my friends, and its good to know that i've done a good job for at least one friend.

{smile #1} - a very cute girl in my church told me she loved my style.

i was definitely tickled pink! thanks jaime!

{smile #2} - while in st. george i cut sissykins' friends hair. she liked it so much she told me i was a brilliant hair dresser. now that was a definite smile!

{smile #3} - my new blogger friend lennie (whom i've mentioned here and here) awarded me an award (which you can read about here) and posted about me on her blog (which you can read here). she said such kind things about me, that i was grinning my head almost completely off! she also left the sweetest comment on a post of mine that said:

{daily} smiles #6

today was a smiling day for sure.

10 smiles to be exact.

*i colored someone's hair and got paid {smile #1},

*there was left over color that i took back and exchanged for 3 bottles of nail polish {smiles #2, 3 & 4} (one for each bottle of course).

*then i bought some much needed make up

(i've been squeezing every last drop out of my old bottle.) {smile #5}

*after that i went to f.h.e., and got invited to a party while i was there. {smiles #7 & 8}

*read bedtime stories to boo and little m {smile 9}

*and ended the night with phase 10 {phase 10 = smile #10}

whew.

what awesomeness this day had!

i'm happy and i know it,

seven days of {smiles}.

seven days of smiles this week.

it was a long week for me, and looking back,

i realize i had so many tiny miracles going on around me,

that i want to reflect on what made me smile.

1. {monday} -- i got my hair done. that was a major smile. and then i had a blast at f.h.e. afterwards! 

2. {tuesday} -- watched t.v. with some darling little kids all five of them wanting to sit on my lap.

3. {wednesday} -- attended not one but two christmas parties. loved spending time with my relief society girls, and then laughing with sissykins' co-workers at her work party.

4. {thursday} -- boo's first piano recital ever. and then, my visiting teachers spent 2 hours at my house. we sat on the floor and ate tater tots with sissykins' a-maz-ing fry sauce, they gave us pez dispensers for christmas!

5. {friday} -- went visiting teaching (for 2+ hours) and made some incredible new friends. we're talking incredible. played twilight scene it for the first time ever (and won might i add! - although i would have had fun no matter what.)

6. {saturday} -- drank some hot cocoa after a very long day, and then watched an episode of ugly betty with sissykins.

7. {sunday} -- woke up to find one of my out-of-town cousins at my house (always a joy.) and then after church and dinner we watched i'll be home for christmas which was an early christmas present to me!

so grateful for such awesome blessings in my life.

thank you to everyone who has made me smile this week.

yesterday some of my i.f. friends came over w/ christmas gifts for me.

well, they insisted i open them e-mmediatley, so i did. ;)

what did i find inside?

a darling plaque that had the scripture {1 corinthians 13:7} on it,

bahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

naturally, they're both hanging on my wall right. this. second.

{weekly} smiles. #3

i received this note last week from a {sweet} sister in my parentals ward.

i almost cried.

it made me smile and it made my week.

thank you {sister}. {i love you.}

there is beauty all around,

"i want to be a good person".

while out in town today, little m found $0.28 in sissykins car,

and {pocketed} it to keep for himself.

when we pulled in to the walmart parking lot,

little m saw the salvation army bell ringer standing outside {ringing} her bell.

he said "i want to give my money. i want to be a good person."

and so now, the {salvation army} is $0.28 richer because of little m's kind heart.

i'm glad he understands the real reason for the season.

so greatful for such {awesome} siblings!

they're such good examples!

{daily} smiles. #2

whew! more {smiles} already. :)

today i had 2 major big daily smiles.

the first one:

i finished my book: enna burning by shannon hale

this book was {incredible}!

i couldn't put it down.

and now, since i have loved the first one (goose girl) so much and now this one too, i want to incoorperate the names of my favorite characters into my children's names. so. future daughters: i hope you don't mind having {enna} or {isilee} for middle names.

my second smile:

 yep, another book! this book came in to the library today. {huzzah}!

i started reading the percy jackson series about 2 weeks ago and i. love. them.

SO good! this is number 3 and then i will only have 2 more. i'll be sad when its over.

(but then the movie is coming out in {february} so... i'll be good again.)

{weekly} smiles #1.

as i said earlier i've been having a {tough} few weeks lately,

and i've really needed a pick me up.

well thank goodness for smiles.

here is where i've found my "weekly smiles" this week.

the national dog show:

okay so i have this weird thing about {dog shows}: i love them!

back in february i was in and out of the doctors offices for a whole bunch of icky tests and it was a pretty weird time for me to be living through. one day, in the waiting room for one of my more invasive tests my mom and i sat and watched the one channel that they had on television. at the time, the {national dog show} was playing. sitting in the waiting room with my mom, watching the dog show, was a calm in my stormy day. watching the dogs {prance} around and be judged, for some reason, eased my nerves and made me feel more relaxed. - after the doctors appointment was over, my mom and i agreed that all we wanted to do was curl up in warm blankets, pop some pop corn, and watch the {dog show}. from then on, i've liked the dog shows because it takes me back to that happy time i had in my very (at that time) stressful life. now whenever my mom or i are having a bad day, we say to each other "i wish the dog show was on." 

so, as if sent from above, on thanksgiving, the national dog show was playing again! i was able to sit and watch it with my siblings, and just {relax}.

it was good to remember how i felt the first time i had watched it.

and my second smile this week, came from:

t-mobile

i don't have a job and so i've been having quite the {difficult} time making ends meet (just like everyone else right now right?). i'm behind on quite a few bills and have been trying desperatley to get a job, but to no avail. (none of this is written to make you feel bad for me. its just a background explaination).

well, my phone bill was due {recently} and i still have yet to pay it. today though, when i opened the mail, i found i had received a $50 gift card from t-mobile that i could put towards my bill. (it was because of all the sidekick problems they've had and i just so happened to have a sidekick. huzzah.) when i saw the gift card, it was re-confirmed to me, that God {loves} me, and that he does watch out for me.
