bejeweled alligators.

last night lauren, my sister and i went to Grimaldi's with a few other friends. the pizzeria was in a beautiful little part of Allen, TX that i had never seen. there were so many shops and such lovely scenery.
it was all so very posh.
the pizza was delicious. and the company even better. i will definitely be going back.

afterwards a few of us stopped in over at Charming Charlie's to drown in all their jewelry.
seriously. there was a ton. i don't know how anyone makes any decisions in there...
{the alligator was our fave. can you see him?^}

i love my texas adventures.
♥ ♥

p.s. have you had a chance to enter my give away yet?!

1/21/11

found it.

well, after this post {thanks for the sweet comments!}, i decided i needed to come up with my own cure-all. so i grabbed the rebel (my slr), my model-worthy sister (aka c, cc, cini bird etc.) and lola (the gps system) and jumped in the car for another friday adventure. while this one was no where near as eventful as last week's, it was exactly what i needed for today.
first stop was to find a decent place to do photos around here. we found a pretty good spot for senior pics and such but i wouldn't recommend say, bridals there or anything.
go here to view the rest of her session. {well, the ones i've edited anyway.}

and then, we went to find a fro yo place.
i'm bound and determined to find something here that can temporarily be my spoon me.
{and after drooling over these for so long, i was craving some goooood fro yo!}
that's where yogurtie comes in.
its a whimsical little fro yo place run by an asian family.
best part about it was, it was about 5 minutes away from where c and i shot.
yogurtie ftw!

{don't go to the website. its down.}

{obviously its the place to be.}

{i'm rockin the top knot! inspired by sydney and ashley.}

i've decided to rate each fro yo place on a 5 ♥ scale in comparison to spoon me who, of course, gets 5 ♥.
i take into consideration:
atmosphere (i.e. decor, staff, music, etc.)
flavor (not how many flavors they have, but the actual taste of the fro yo.)
price
variety (different flavors and toppings.)
extra zing (whatever else i feel like giving points for.)

and yogurtie gets ♥ ♥ ♥.
first off, the flavor was great. i prefer my fro yo to be a little thinner and icier than creamy (if i wanted creamy, i'd eat ice cream.) yogurtie had that perfect combo that i love, although it did melt pretty quickly. secondly, there was so much variety! they had over 10 flavors to choose from and even more toppings (but you better believe i stuck to my usual 'original flavor'). plus it was self serve so that was a plus. as for atmosphere, the decor was pretty cute, but the music they were playing was horrible and i prefer to speak to someone who actually speaks english...
they lost points for price. while they only charge $.39 per oz, that adds up quick! for two cartons of yogurt it was over $10.00. that, for me, is a little pricey.

over all, it was pretty delish and fun to try.
but its no spoon me.

all in all, a great friday night.

{oh and they got an extra point for having a random book on one of the tables about a lost beaver.}

{if you want to visit this yogurtie, its on eldorado in mckinney, tx.
look me up, we'll go together!}

1/14/11

well, that was an adventure.

today i took my baby sister out for her birthday. (a week late, but hey! i'm not known for my punctuality...)
as we got in the car, i told her that our gno was going to be a slew of adventures.
i. had. no. idea.
so, on our way to a strip mall we'd never been to, we got lost (and getting lost in texas is much scarier than getting lost in utah or idaho) complete with getting on the wrong freeway and everything.
when we finally found where we were headed, we decided to first stop at the los charros tex mex restaurant and get some grub so we could chat and unwind from our adventurous excursion we'd just experienced.
(p.s. it was DELICIOUS. i've been craving good mexican food for like 9 months and i finally got some. y.u.m.)
{you had me at endless chips and salsa.}
after eating, we headed to the strip mall (which had rue 21! not my favorite store, but it reminded me of my home town, st. george, so we HAD to go in.)
found some gems.
then headed to juicy couture and charlotte russe.
after our shopping there, we decided to head to another shopping center. strip malls are great and all, but very small and sometimes over priced and we were over it.
but wait.
you need keys to drive to your next destination and oh, don't worry, i locked ours in the car... and left them in the ignition.
that's a bigger problem than it seems. you see, we only have one car in our family. even though we have spare keys, i didn't know how anyone would bring it to us.
after calling a lock smith and hearing the prices, i finally called my mom, admitting defeat.
luckily we have an angel of a neighbor who was on her way to our neck of the woods anyway and so she agreed to bring us a spare key.
thank heavens!
after waiting the 20 minutes or so it took her to make it where we were, we were pretty much ready to go home, but we had one more stop to make and little did we know our adventures weren't over yet.
we had to stop at a walgreens to pick up a few somin' somin's for me madre and while we were there, we decided to pick up some [crappy] new nail polish colors as well.
we deserved pretty nails at this point.
eagerly pulling out of the walgreens parking lot we drive not even 5 minutes before we are pulled over.
yes folks.
ugh.
i didn't even know what i had done!
mr. cop takes his sweet time walking over to my sister's side of the car and waits for us to roll the window down, only the window is broken and doesn't roll down. we try motioning that to him through the window and so he pulls the door open.
i said "sorry, that window is broken. it doesn't roll down."
cop: "but the door opens doesn't it?"
well obviously, he had opened it.
cop: "do you know why i pulled you over?"
me: "no"
cop: "look out in front of your car, what do you see?"
at this point, i felt like playing a dumb blond and asking "oh, are we playing i spy?!" but i didn't. i looked in front of me and realized my lights weren't on. so, i flipped them on.
cop: "yeah, those might help out." then he walked away.
whatevs man. whatevs.
after that, we were more than ready to go home and so, we did.
after getting lost again.
gah. what a night.
at least my nails are pretty and i found some awesome jems while shopping.
and ate good mexican food.
totally worth it.

how was your friday?

then a fox you shall be, my foxy lady.

 last weekend we went and saw tangled. having some time to spare before the movie started, we went to a nearby big lots so the boys could get some presents for their cousin. while we were in big lots i had the sudden urge to pee but after stepping foot inside the nasty azz big lots bathrooms, i decided to walk across the parking lot to a cvs where, i hoped, they would have cleaner bathrooms.
on my quest to cvs, i walked past an employee of one of the near by stores who was on a smoke break. as i walked past him, i offered him a smile. upon seeing said smile, he raised his eye brows at me and said "well hey there foxy lady!" and then the 'compliments' just kept on flowing from his mouth.
um, oops.
i didn't know that smiling at him was an open invitation to tell me what he thought of my clothes, hair, body etc.
needless to say, i walked away very quickly.
yikes!
it did make me laugh though. and it also reminded me of this:
only my "foxy" experience was far less romantic and way more traumatizing.

what are the best and worst compliments you've ever gotten?

1/9/11

snowday.

 it snowed today in northern texas.
it snowed...
and snowed...
and snowed...
and SNOWED!
we're expected to get 4-5 inches today.

isn't it lovely?
as long as it doesn't stick around too long, then yes. it is lovely.

12/29/10

2010 in review.

(you can read my 2009 in review here.)

{january} - in january, i was jobless. boo. i did travel to utah though, i also learned how to make beanies, and had a little fun with the nestle crunch hotline. but other than sharing my doppelgangers, i didn't do much in january. it was kind of an uneventful month now that i look back on it...
{february} - february brought the olympics, another trip to utah, and valentines day. i also hosted my first ever give away in february and started making my summer plans. i attempted to do my first ever "fashion post" and slowly but surely gained new followers. what a month, huh? don't worry, my life got more exciting. i promise.
{march} - i moved into a new house and finally got a one-time-job as a wedding planner (which i LOVED by the way.), i also started making necessary changes in my life, and went to utah AGAIN. i was involved in a bomb threat and that was about the highlight of my march.
{april} - in april, i finished the wedding i was working on (big success btw), hosted my second ever give away and was in desperate need of some adventure in my life. i also got a job (that lasted about... 3 weeks.) and shared what kind of girl i am.
{may} - in may, my brother graduated from highschool and i moved from the dreary state of idaho to the gloriousness that is utah. i bought my first ever laptop (thank you student loan!) and shared all sorts of crushes during my 2010 crush week. i also went to my first book signing ever and met one of my favorite authors, aprilynne pike. (if you've never read wings, or spells, please go do it because they are AWESOME books. simply AWESOME.)
{june} - got ready to move into my new apartment, saw a lot of awesome movies AND started school. basically, moving and school alone took up most of my time. but somehow i found time to watch the world cup... 'somehow'.
{july} - i participated in more school, saw a woman with a full on obe won kenobi hair cut, got a real live job (first time i'd had one in over a year) and basically just loved on my utah (but still spent some time in idaho. figure that one out.)
{august} - lets see... what did i do in august? oh, right! i turned 25. even though 25 is a number i don't really care to discuss, i will gush about the she&him concert my besties took me to! i also finished my summer semester of college, and traveled a little bit more. i celebrated 8/9/10 and got a little 'contreversal' on my blog by sharing what types of physical traits i do and don't like in a guy.
{september} - in september, i mostly just worked. a lot. and packed getting ready to move AGAIN. my sister did visit though, and i spent my spare time doing super productive things like watching legendary tv shows.
{october} - i spent most of the month of october in st. george ut with my sister, but not before throwing my bestie a surprise murder mystery party! what fun, what fun. after that, i went to st. george and worked and stuff. 'and stuff' means... nothing. oh, i did watch supernatural (which required me to drool over my lover.)
{november} - i went to my second concert of the year, kate nash (amazing!!) and spent some time on colorado with some of my besties for life. then, harry potter was released and i saw it a couple of times. score. then i moved to a new state (3rd state i've lived in this year) and traveled quite a bit (i covered 5 states in 2 days. it was a LONG drive.) celebrated thanksgiving with the fam and started working AGAIN. oh and i loved on jensen a little bit more...
{december} - december was a long, hard month for me. i had zero christmas spirit and was just having an all around bad attitude. luckily, things got better (like the fact that i survived my first driving experience in texas) and i am now looking forward to ringing in 2011 to see what it has in store for me!!

what did your year look like?
