tornados.

i feel like this year's tornado season has been pretty mild. we had a few big ones come through but the thunder and rain wasn't as frequent, i didn't think.

i savored every storm we had though. i love the rain and the dark hazy sky bulging with thick, threatening clouds.
 there is something so wonderful and cozy about the stormy weather.

brothers and ice cream.

hi, remember me? i used to write on this blog...
anyway.
its been a really long time since i'd gotten my brothers dressed up and taken them out to have a "legit" (i don't know that my photography could be considered legit, but i digress) photo sesh so i decided to take advantage of what would have been the perfect weather (had it not been for the wind) and go down to a nifty little spot here in TX to snap some shots.

the boys did so good that afterwards, we decided to get some ice cream. normally i'd prefer froyo over ice cream any day, however, when it comes to coldstone. i die. there is not much better than coldstone creamery.

{cake batter ice cream with brownie and cookie dough. my absolute fave.
i got addicted to that particular mixture while i was in hair school and its satisfied me every since.}

{do you see any family resemblance?...}
overall it was a lovely weekend. happy monday, dears!

shot with my Olympus Stylus Zoom 140 Deluxe/black & white 35mm film

1/25/12

film photos.

around Christmastime my gem of a coworker donated to my camera collection an Olympus Stylus Zoom 140 Deluxe (takes 35 mm film) and an original Polaroid camera (takes 600 film which, by the way, costs quite literally an arm and a leg to purchase. gag me).i was all sorts of excited to shoot with film and decided to use a roll of black and while film that i had hanging out in my room to shoot my Christmas and New Years with.
guys? love.

{h, tracking santa. he was up at the crack of dawn and was mapping out exactly where santa was and where he was going next. i love his innocent belief and wonder for life.}

{hi.}

new years eve:

i'm definitely going to be using more film in the future. its a lot of fun to not see how anything turned out until you've paid for it and have the tangible "evidence" in your hands. but i still have a lot to learn in a way of film. such as, a good place to get my photos developed. walgreens? yeah, not doing that again. ever.

instantly perfect.

ever since i got my fujifilm instax mini i've been going crazy in the instant photo department. i love, love, love the photos it takes. they all come out with just a little bit of a vintage-y look which is a perfect reflection of the original instant photos: the polaroid. here are some of my faves that i've taken thus far:

do you have a favorite camera?

p.s. tomorrow is the last day to enter my give away!

10/17/11

my weekend.

most of my weekend consisted of relaxing.
i'm still trying to get rid of whatever it is i have (assuming its get-rid-ofable.) so i decided to stay in bed all weekend with some of my favorite Camp-Half Blood peeps. (holla to all my Percy Jackson fan-friends!)
i did however, manage to make it to a 7:30 showing of Real Steel which, can i just tell you was both awesome in the over all film department and satisfying in the over all eye candy department? Hugh Jackman is hot. okay? that's all that needs to be said there.
and on Sunday i watched Fantastic Mr. Fox for the first time ever. yes, i loved it.

i hope you all had a marvelous weekend.

the continuted story of the purchasing of the cameras.

remember this sad tale?well, i think you'll be glad to know it has a happy ending. part 1 of the happy ending is this:
i am currently counting down the days until my fujifilm instax 7s (and its two boxes of film) arrives! (yes, i decided on the fujifilm instax... for now. the kicker was that it's a 7s. yay me.)
part 2 is this:
first it starts out even less happy than before and then it gets really happy at the end.
so, i went to take my holga back and they had removed all the holgas from their shelves. what?! no taking pictures that look like this:
grrrr. the girl could tell i was distraught so she even checked in the back for me. but when she came back empty handed, i knew i would have to settle for something else. so, i began scanning the shelves. and that's when i laid eyes on this:
i liked it even better then the edelweiss that i had originally picked out. in addition to that i decided i wanted to work with 120 film for the time being rather than 35mm (i'll move onto that soon enough) and so, i went home happy as a clam. but then i tried to find 120 film. and gosh dangit, no one sells it! (and by no one i really mean target and kroger which are the only two places that i looked.)
then i received e-mail notification that i was good to go on lomography.com so i rushed over and got my camera and (now, this is where it gets happy!) 3 rolls of 120 film!!!

today i checked the status of my package and WOOT! its in the dallas area which means i should have it by the weekend (aka tomorrow).
i guess today is basically tbde (the best day ever.)
