♥jennifer for katniss. me convincing you.

i'm waving the white flag.
i'll admit, i was a little leery of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, but i was purely judging her on looks (something we often do when our favorite characters are being cast, no?) - blond hair, blue eyes, big... anyway...
but after she was cast, i started reading things she had said about the role and i began to be more and more behind her, willing to offer my support as a HG fan. and now, i'm totally on board.

its hard not to be when she says things like "...i feel like a rag doll. i have hair and makeup people coming to my house every day and putting me in new, uncomfortable, weird dresses and expensive shoes, and i just shut down and raise my arms up for them to get the dress on, and pout my lips when they need to put the lipstick on..." (source -- on being dressed and pampered as a celebrity) -- does that not remind you of Katniss when she's in the Capitol?
and when Suzeanne Collins herself endorses her so beautifully: "in her remarkable audition piece, i watched Jennifer embody every essential quality necessary to play Katniss. i saw a girl who has the potential rage to send an arrow into the Gamemakers and the protectiveness to make Rue her ally. who has conquered both Peeta and Gale’s hearts even though she’s done her best to wall herself off emotionally from anything that would lead to romance. most of all, i believed that this was a girl who could hold out that handful of berries and incite the beaten down districts of Panem to rebel. i think that was the essential question for me. could she believably inspire a rebellion? did she project the strength, defiance and intellect you would need to follow her into certain war? for me, she did." (source) if the author and creator of the character herself is on board, i absolutely can't complain.

still not satisfied? its because your stuck on the looks thing isn't it.
then please observe this:

um, hello Katniss Everdeen!
i for one, am stoked. thus far i believe they have only made on casting faux pas and that is Liam Hensworth. but considering the fact that Gale was never one of my favorite characters anyway i can overlook that and be satisfied with the others they have cast (Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman?!, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch?! the cast just keeps getting better and better.)

yeah, well guess what. he was.
the. film. will. rock.
the end.

You won me over. I am convinced. :) I judged by looks at first, but if the author supports her and DANG on that EW cover she looks like I envisioned her! AWEsome. Can't wait!

I think I'm probably one of four people in the world who haven't read this series...or Harry Potter...or LOTR..

Don't judge me. ;)

I always get annoyed with the casts of my favorite book heroines. It has nothing to do with the actresses' looks or acting abilities. It's because I want the part! As such, I'll never really be happy with the Katniss cast. That said, I was impressed with the photograph. If not me, I GUESS she'll be okay.

p.s. I updated. You're welcome.

p.p.s I added your blog to my friend list so expect a constant stream of stalking from yours truly.
